PRODUCTION NOTES

After bring enslaved in a call centre for several weeks following his graduation - chained to his desk by a headset and keyboard - writer and director Simon Glass wanted to make the anti-establishment film all young filmmakers want to make.

A penniless, ageing Mime - a symbol of the struggling creative - fights to be acknowledged on a street of countless impressions - a row of identintical Street Mimes. He gives up his art and his face paint and takes a job answering phones - undermining the principal of his craft and forcing him to communicate with speech. But even after breaking free from the shackles of his desk, the Mime finds himself unable to escape the shadow of the money-wielding, cigar-chugging capitalist.

Principal Photography began in Leeds in October 2008, produced by Nicola Ford and Simon Glass. After flying to Paris to drink some wine and find some French investment, Simon returned with enough money to complete the film in April 2009 with a new producer Vivienne Errington-Barnes. Depsite the film signing a distribution contract at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2009 the film sat on several shelves until the Yorlshire Film Archive offered to archive it - along with the original rushes in 2012.
