THE LAST TRIBE
BFI Mediateque

Brought up on a healthy diet of boiled fish and religious guilt, Simon’s taste for storytelling can be traced back to the tales he would use as a child to skip Sunday School.

After a few years of boiling kettles for such prestigious filmmakers as Anthony Minghella and Andrea Arnold, Simon was given the job of Assistant Producer on the award-winning Sundance-nominated ‘Son of Babylon’ in 2009. Simon has since directed and produced several short films, including DOGSPOTTING, awarded a Special Mention by Film Four for their 30th Anniversary Scene Stealer Competition, and his first feature-length documentary THE LAST TRIBE being selected for the British Film Institute’s Mediatheque Yorkshire Collection – one of 100 key films made in Yorkshire over the past century.

Combining satire with half a cantaloupe, Simon intends to develop his fast-paced, quick-talking and visually dynamic style with a focus on the historical, social and political context of his subjects to create both intellectually stimulating and creatively challenging films.
